1. A method for wireless communication at a first user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication network, the method comprising:
receiving a message from a base station over a first link upon an occurrence of an external event;
performing beam training with a second UE in response to the message to select a directional beam pair link with the second UE; and
communicating with the second UE using the directional beam pair link via a relay link.
