1. An antenna system comprising:
a first ferrite rod;
a second ferrite rod aligned end-to-end along an axis with the first ferrite rod;
a first coil wrapped around the first ferrite rod;
a second coil wrapped around the second ferrite rod;
a conductor network connected between the first coil and the second coil; and
a transmitter coupled to provide a first current to the first coil and a second current to the second coil via the conductor network, wherein a first radio frequency (RF) field is generated in the first coil by the transmitter and a second RF field is generated in the second coil by the transmitter, the first and second RF fields being emitted in opposition to each other creating an increased field strength perpendicular to the axis between the first and second coils.
