1. A method of adjusting the output of an ultrasonic phased array comprising:
determining a position of interest and a desired output at the position of interest;
calculating a maximum output from the ultrasonic phased array at the position of interest; and
scaling the desired output using a scaling factor so that the desired output does not exceed the maximum output.
