1. A linear drive assembly, comprising:
a crosshead configured to reciprocate within a crosshead guide, the crosshead having front and rear ends joined by opposed first and second outer sides and having a wrist pin bore formed therein, the wrist pin bore interconnecting the opposed first and second outer sides;
a cylindrical wrist pin having first and second sides, the wrist pin installed within the wrist pin bore such that at least a portion of each of the first and second sides is positioned outside of the wrist pin bore; in which a threaded fastener bore is formed within the wrist pin, the threaded fastener bore interconnecting the first and second sides of the wrist pin;
a connecting rod having a crosshead connection end joined to a crankshaft connection end via an elongate arm; the crosshead connection end comprising a pair of opposed linking elements, each linking element coupled to a corresponding one of the first and second sides of the wrist pin such that a least a portion of each linking element is positioned adjacent at least a portion of a corresponding one of the first and second outer sides of the crosshead;
in which the linking elements each comprise a ring having a central opening; and in which at least a portion of each of the first and the second sides of the wrist pin is disposed within the central opening of a corresponding one of the linking elements;
a pair of retainer plates, each plate engaging the corresponding one of the first and second sides of the wrist pin and engaging a corresponding one of the rings; and
a pair of wrist pin fasteners, each wrist pin fastener installed within a corresponding one of the retainer plates and within at least a portion of the threaded fastener bore, such that the pair of wrist pin fasteners hold the retainer plates against the corresponding one of the first and second sides of the wrist pin and the corresponding one of the rings.

a pair of retainer plates, each plate engaging the corresponding one of the first and second sides of the wrist pin and engaging a corresponding one of the rings; and
a wrist pin fastener installed within the fastener bore and each of the pair of retainer plates, the wrist pin fastener secured to one of the retainer plates, such that the wrist pin fastener holds the retainer plates against the corresponding one of the first and second sides of the wrist pin and the corresponding one of the rings.

18. A linear drive assembly, comprising:
a crosshead configured to reciprocate within a crosshead guide, the crosshead having front and rear ends joined by opposed first and second outer sides and having a wrist pin bore formed therein, the wrist pin bore interconnecting the opposed first and second outer sides;
a cylindrical wrist pin having first and second sides, the wrist pin installed within the wrist pin bore such that at least a portion of each of the first and second sides is positioned outside of the wrist pin bore;

in which the pair of linking elements each comprises an arm having an upper and lower opening formed therein;
in which the wrist pin further comprises a pair of upper through-bores and a pair of lower through-bores, each upper through-bore aligned with a corresponding one of the upper openings formed in the arms, and each lower through-bore aligned with a corresponding one of the lower openings formed in the arms,
a plurality of upper fasteners, each upper fastener installed within a corresponding one of the aligned upper through-bores and upper openings; and
a plurality of lower fasteners, each lower fastener installed within a corresponding one of the aligned lower through-bores and lower openings.
