1. A gear oil composition having a kinematic viscosity at 40° C. in the range of ≥135 to ≤750 cSt when measured in accordance with ASTM D445, the gear oil composition comprising
a) ≥2.0.0 wt. % to ≤94.0 wt. % of at least one alkoxylated polytetrahydrofuran of the general formula (I) having a kinematic viscosity at 40° C. in the range of ≥700 to ≤1300 cSt, as determined in accordance with ASTM D445,

n is in the range of ≥0 to ≤75,
n′ is in the range of ≥0 to ≤75,
(n+n′) is in the range of ≥0 to ≤90,
k is in the range of ≥2 to ≤30,
R1 denotes an unsubstituted, linear or branched, C6, C7, C8, C9, C10, C11, C12, C13, C14, C15, C16, C17, C18, C19, C20, C21, C22, C23, C24, C25, C26, C27 or C28 alkyl,
R2 denotes CH2—CH3, CH3 or H, and
R3 and R4 denote, identical or different, substituted or unsubstituted, linear or branched C1, C2, C3, C4, C5 alkyl or H,
wherein the concatenations denoted by k are distributed to form a block polymeric structure and the concatenations denoted by n, n′, m and m′ are distributed to form a block polymeric structure or a random polymeric structure; and
b) ≥6.0 wt. % to ≤76.0 wt. % of at least one polyalphaolefin having a kinematic viscosity at 40° C. in the range of ≥16 to ≤60 cSt as determined in accordance with ASTM D445; wherein the wt. % are based on the total weight of the gear oil composition.
 
20. A method for operating a gear box, the method comprising
(a) contacting the gear oil composition according to claim 19 with a set of gears in the gear box; and
(b) operating the gear box.
