1. An aerosol generating system comprising:
an aerosol generating device including formed therein a first accommodation space including a susceptor and having an aerosol generating article inserted therein; and
a cradle including formed therein a second accommodation space having the aerosol generating device accommodated therein,
wherein the aerosol generating device includes:
a battery charged by power received from the cradle while the aerosol generating device is accommodated in the second accommodation space;
an induction coil configured to form a magnetic field within the first accommodation space by receiving power from the battery; and
a controller electrically connected to the induction coil,
wherein the controller is configured to:
measure an amplitude of a voltage applied to the induction coil;
when the measured amplitude of the voltage is less than or equal to a predefined value, determine that the aerosol generating article is inserted into the first accommodation space; and
when determining that the aerosol generating article is inserted into the first accommodation space, heat the susceptor by controlling the induction coil to form the magnetic field.
