1. An electronic device comprising:
a transceiver; and
a controller configured to:
open a first reception window having a first duration;
in response to determining that a synchronized transmission has not been received via the transceiver during the first reception window, determine a second duration that is longer than the first duration;
close the first reception window;
open a second reception window having the second duration;
in response to receiving a first synchronized transmission during the second reception window, determine a third duration based on a time difference between opening the second reception window and reception of the first synchronized transmission;
close the second reception window; and
open a third reception window having the third duration.
