1. An optical sensor comprising:
an optical digital sensor chip assembly (SCA), the SCA comprising a focal plane array (FPA) and a digital read out integrated circuit (DROIC);
wherein the FPA comprises an array of photovoltaic diodes that converts light photons to electronic charges,
wherein the DROIC receives the electronic charges and converts the electronic charges to a digital output stream,
wherein the DROIC comprises a plurality of circuitry, the plurality of circuitry comprising a plurality of unit cells located adjacent to a side of the array of photovoltaic diodes that is located opposite a side of the array of photovoltaic diodes that contacts the light photons,
wherein each diode in the array of photovoltaic diodes is mated to a unit cell in the plurality of unit cells, and
wherein the DROIC is configured to report temporal changes for each pixel in the array of photovoltaic diodes, wherein the temporal changes comprise an increase, no change, or a decrease.
