1. A method comprising:
detecting a portable device within a proximity zone of a reader device;
responsive to detecting that the portable device is within the proximity zone of the reader device, establishing wireless communication between the portable device and the reader device;
wirelessly receiving, from the portable device, a unique device identifier identifying the portable device;
automatically unlocking a host device associated with the reader device and launching an application on the host device based on the unique device identifier, a specific location within the application being automatically accessed upon the launching; and
responsive to detecting that the portable device is no longer within the proximity zone of the reader device, automatically closing the application on the host device and locking the host device associated with the reader device.
