1. A user equipment (“UE”) for wireless communication, comprising:
at least one memory; and
at least one processor coupled with the at least one memory and configured to cause the UE to:
transmit a Protocol Data Unit (“PDU”) session establishment request for establishing a PDU session with a mobile core network;
receive, from an interworking function, a first message that indicates a number of child IP security (“IPsec”) security associations (“SAs”) for the PDU session;
receive, from the interworking function, a second message that indicates an acceptance of the PDU session establishment request;
receive, from the interworking function, a third message associated with the PDU session, the third message comprising a first encapsulation packet header, wherein the first encapsulation packet header comprises an echo request indication and complies with a General Routing Encapsulation (“GRE”) protocol; and
transmit, to the interworking function, a second fourth message in response to the third message, the second fourth message comprising a second encapsulation packet header, wherein the second encapsulation packet header comprises an echo response indication and complies with the GRE protocol.
