1. An apparatus comprising:
a transceiver configured to transmit unique signals to a plurality of transmission reception points (TRxPs) for transmission by the plurality of TRxPs and receive uplink signals received by the plurality of TRxPs from a user equipment, wherein the unique signals comprise a first synchronization signal block (SSB) that is transmitted by each of the plurality of TRxPs and a plurality of second SSBs that are selectively transmitted by different ones of the plurality of TRxPs; and
a processor configured to generate a sum of the uplink signals from a subset of the plurality of TRxPs, wherein the subset is determined based on measurements of the unique signals performed by the user equipment, and
wherein the transceiver is configured to transmit the sum of the uplink signals to a baseband unit over a fronthaul link.
