1. An electronic dimmer for controlling switching timing of electrical power supplied from an alternating current (AC) source to a load, the electronic dimmer comprising:
dimmer circuitry including any of: switching circuitry, line voltage measuring circuitry, load voltage measuring circuitry, and zero-cross circuitry, the dimmer circuitry configured to generate load voltage measurements and source voltage measurements performed by the included circuitry; and
a processor coupled directly to the dimmer circuitry, the processor configured to:
(1) determine a load type to be one of any of an inductive lighting load type, a resistive lighting load type, or a capacitive lighting load type according to the load voltage measurements and the source voltage measurements, and
(2) control timing of the switching circuitry switching an input load voltage cycle according to the determined load type.
