1. A method for controlling a buck converter, comprising:
monitoring an inductor current flowing through an inductor in the buck converter;
controlling the buck converter to operate in a pulse frequency modulation (PFM) mode with intermittent conduction if the inductor current experiences a plurality of cross-zero periods; and
adjusting a power consumption of a component in the buck converter according to the plurality of cross-zero periods of the inductor current, when the buck converter is operating in the PFM mode.
