1. A method of displaying a symbol representative of changes in price during a time period, the method comprising:
receiving by a network access device, for each intra-time period of a plurality of intra-time periods in the time period, OHLC data including intra-time price data including an intra-time open price and an intra-time close price corresponding to the intra-time period;
using a computer device comprising a processor, a memory, and the network access device, where the memory stores the OHLC data and a charting engine;
determining using the processor in operative communication with the charting engine, from the received intra-time price data for the plurality of intra-time periods, an open price, which is an intra-time open price of an initial intra-time period of the plurality of intra-time periods;
determining, using the processor in operative communication with the charting engine, an average price from the intra-time close price of each intra-time period of the plurality of intra-time periods in the time period;
determining, at least in part by using the processor and by accessing OHLC data stored in the memory, a total-above-average-price counter value by determining, for each particular intra-time period of the plurality of intra-time periods, whether the intra-time close price of the particular intra-time period was greater than the average price, so that the total-above-average-price counter value indicates a number of the intra-time periods for which the intra-time close price was greater than the average price; and
providing the total-above-average-price counter value to the charting engine, the charting engine generating and displaying, the symbol by communicating with the processor, which illustrates a relationship between the total-above-average-price counter value and the plurality of intra-time periods in the time period.
