1. A method for performing contactless and secure data transfers while limiting opportunities for information intercept, comprising:
receiving, by a wireless sensor, a user identifier from a passive device associated with a user, wherein the passive device emits information in response to an energy emission from a powered device;
receiving, by the wireless sensor, a product identifier from a product;
in response to receiving the user identifier and the product identifier, determining that the passive device associated with the user and the product are within a predefined proximity;
in response to determining that the passive device associated with the user and the product are within the predefined proximity, sending a communication to an electronic device associated with the user requesting that the user authorize a purchase of the product;
receiving a response to the communication from the electronic device authorizing the purchase of the product; and
sending the response to an authentication system for completing the purchase.
