1. A lighting device comprising a phosphor having the general molecular formula:
(MB)(Si0.25Al−1/8+r**/2Li7/8−r**/2)4(O1−r**Nr**)4:E, wherein 0.25≤r**≤1, and wherein MB is selected from a group of divalent metals which comprises Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba and combinations thereof, and E=Eu, Ce, Yb and/or Mn.
