1. A process for manufacturing a catechol-containing copolymer comprising the steps of:
a) preparing a protected 3,4-dihydroxystyrene;
b) mixing said protected 3,4-dihydroxystyrene with styrene;
c) adding an initiator of polymerization under a constant stirring to trigger polymerization of said protected 3,4-dihydroxystyrene and styrene;
d) quenching said polymerization to obtain a protected 3,4-dihydroxystyrene-styrene copolymer; and
e) removing protection from said protected 3,4-dihydroxystyrene-styrene copolymer to afford said catechol-containing copolymer.
