1. A thermal management system for an electric vehicle, the system comprising:
a single pump;
a heater;
a heat exchanger; and
a first valve and a second valve, each moveable between at least a first position and a second position; and
a number of fluid pathways fluidically interconnecting the pump, heater, heat exchanger and the first and second valves;
the system operable in a number of modes including:
a first mode with the first valve in the first position and the second valve in the second position to configure the fluid pathways to form a first fluid circulation loop extending through the heater and a battery pack of the vehicle, the single pump to circulate fluid heated by the heater through the first circulation loop to heat the battery pack; and
a second mode with the first valve in the second position to configure the fluid pathways to form a second fluid circulation loop extending through an electric motor and motor controller of the vehicle and the heat exchanger, the single pump to circulate fluid through the second circulation loop to expel heat from the motor and motor controller via the heat exchanger while bypassing the battery pack.
