1. A training system, comprising:
a training device including
a frame comprising one or more brackets positioned on an opposing side of one or more vertical supports from a base portion, wherein at least one of the one or more brackets defines a pair of side portions and a void between the two side portions;
one or more pulleys operably coupled with the one or more brackets;
a cable routed through the one or more pulleys and configured to operably couple with a swimmer;
a variable weight system operably coupled with the cable;
a timing device coupled with the bracket of the training device and including:
a housing operably coupled with the training device, wherein the housing is configured to extend into the void of one or more brackets; and
a sensor positioned within the housing and at least partially above the one or more brackets and configured to detect motion at a first position and a second position of the variable weight system, wherein the sensor is optically coupled with the variable weight system and remote from the cable and the one or more pulleys.
