1. A substrate comprising a first coating on a surface thereof, the first coating comprising amorphous nanosized titanium phosphate particles, amorphous nanosized zirconium phosphate particles, or a mixture thereof, wherein the first coating has a thickness of from about 1 to about 1000 nm,
wherein the amorphous nanosized titanium phosphate particles and/or the amorphous nanosized zirconium phosphate particles in the first coating have a specific surface area of from about 5 m2/g to about 400 m2/g.
