1. A compacting system for compacting a gastric residence system comprising:
a tapered tube comprising an upper circular surface;
a primary piston configured to advance into a center of the tapered tube and through the upper circular surface; and
a secondary piston configured to receive the primary piston when in a retracted configuration,
wherein the primary piston is configured to apply a first force to a linking member of the gastric residence system, and the upper circular surface of the tapered tube is configured to apply a second force to a plurality of arms of the gastric residence system, causing the gastric residence system to fold, wherein each arm of the plurality of arms is attached to the linking member at a proximal end of the arm.
