1. A device for marking a corneal surface, the device comprising:
a planar base having a central opening;
a single marker extending across a single diameter of the central opening and configured to physically contact the corneal surface when the device is pressed over the corneal surface to transfer a linear marking onto the corneal surface consisting of a single line of coloring agent across a single diameter of the corneal surface.
