1. A method comprising:
obtaining, by a computer, cartographic data from preoperative images of at least a portion of a degenerated glenoid surface of a patient;
generating, by the computer, a glenoid surface model based on the cartographic data of the portion of the degenerated glenoid surface of the patient, wherein the glenoid surface model is representative of a spatial implantation configuration of a glenoid component of a shoulder prosthesis for the patient;
determining, by the computer, a thickness in a medio-lateral direction of an upper part of the glenoid component based on the glenoid surface model and the cartographic data; and
sending, by the computer, instructions to one or more devices to cause the one or more devices to produce the glenoid component based on the determined thickness.
