1. An optical device for determining a position of an object, comprising:
a photosensitive plane having a first and second side, the first and second side opposing each other;
a first light source configured to illuminate the object;
a lens disposed between the photosensitive plane and the object configured to focus light reflected off of the object toward the photosensitive plane;
a first current detector in electrical communication with the first side of the photosensitive plane;
a second current detector in electrical communication with the second side of the photosensitive plane;
a circuit configured to calculate a first position of the object in a first direction based at least on measured currents from the first and second current detectors; and
a graphical user interface (GUI) for displaying feedback comprising position measurement information based on the first position of the object in the first direction to indicate a repositioning of the object to an optimal location for measurement, wherein the position measurement information comprises an indication provided on the GUI to adjust a pressure applied by the object on a transparent barrier between the object and the first light source.
