1. A method for creating a positioning guide system for guiding a surgical bone preparation tool, the method comprising:
generating, via an imaging system, an image of a bone of a patient;
determining, based on the image of the bone of the patient, a geometry of the bone of the patient;
identifying, on the image of the bone of the patient, a plurality of landmarks;
merging the geometry of the bone of the patient and the plurality of landmarks with a base model to form a model of a patient-specific positioning guide, wherein the patient-specific positioning guide comprises:
an interface including a contoured surface that corresponds to the plurality of landmarks;
a plurality of sensors located on the contoured surface at locations associated with the plurality of landmarks; and
a user interface configured to present an indication that the patient-specific positioning guide is correctly positioned relative to the plurality of landmarks; and
manufacturing, based on the model of the patient-specific positioning guide, the patient-specific guide.
