1. A red blood cell product comprising:
separated red blood cells;
an aqueous storage solution comprising glucose, mannitol, and adenine;
at least one lipid and vitamin E, wherein the at least one lipid has a concentration in the range of 2.3 to 21 ppm and is effective in suppressing hemolysis in said separated red blood cells; and
wherein the at least one lipid and vitamin E are emulsified and incorporated into said aqueous storage solution.
