a plurality of projections positioned along a bottom surface of the top plate;
at least one fastener opening configured to receive a fastener therethrough to attach the fastener plate to the roofing substrate;
a plurality of openings spaced from the fastener opening; and
a liquid coating applied along the underlayment;
wherein when the fastener plate is positioned on the roofing substrate, an interior volume is defined between the top plate and the underlayment;
wherein the projections are configured to support the fastener plate above the roofing substrate;
wherein the plurality of openings are in fluid communication with the interior volume and are configured to enable passage of the liquid coating into the interior volume;
wherein the liquid coating is adapted to cover at least a portion of the fastener and an area surrounding a space formed in the underlayment by the fastener so as to form a seal against introduction of moisture through the underlayment.
