The patentability of claims 1-16 is confirmed. |
1. A method for uniquely identifying a media segment through broadcast scanning, the method comprising:
acquiring, using a stream scanner module of a broadcast scanning system comprising a computer processor and an electronic storage medium, third party encoded data associated with an electronic transmission of a media segment, the associated third party encoded data obtained from a data stream corollary to receipt of the electronic transmission of the media segment;
extracting the associated third party encoded data obtained from the data stream corollary to the receipt of the transmission of the media segment;
analyzing, using a stream analysis module of the broadcast scanning system, the associated third party encoded data to initiate identification of the media segment;
generating data that enables a unique identification of a specific instance of acquisition of the associated third party encoded data;
storing in a database the data that enables the unique identification of the specific instance of acquisition of the associated third party encoded data and at least part of the analyses of the associated third party encoded data, to initiate identification of the media segment;
transmitting the data that enables unique identification of the specific instance of acquisition of the associated third party encoded data to a plurality of user devices accessing the media segment; and
obtaining, using a device monitoring module of the broadcast scanning system, from at least one of the plurality of user devices, an interaction with the media segment and at least the data that enables unique identification of the specific instance of acquisition of the associated third party encoded data.
