1. A method of transmitting control information to a communication network, the method being implemented in a wireless device and comprising:
receiving, by radio resource control (RRC) signaling, a configuration of at least a first physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) opportunity and a second PUCCH opportunity, each of the configured PUCCH opportunities identifying uplink (UL) resources to be used for transmitting control information to the communication network;
receiving an assignment of radio resources to be used for receiving a downlink (DL) transmission from a network node of the communication network;
receiving an acknowledgement resource indication (ARI), indicating one of the configured PUCCH opportunities, the wireless device receiving the ARI indicating one of the configured PUCCH opportunities after receiving the configuration of at least the first PUCCH opportunity and the second PUCCH opportunity, the ARI being received in a message comprising additional information, the additional information being a variable separation of a time interval of the DL transmission and a time interval of the control information transmission; and
transmitting control information associated with the DL transmission to the network node on less than all of the UL resources identified by the indicated PUCCH opportunity;
each of the configured PUCCH opportunities including one or more of a PUCCH format, a PUCCH duration, or a PUCCH bandwidth; and
the first PUCCH opportunity identifying a different PUCCH duration than the second PUCCH opportunity.
