17. A method, comprising:
coupling a running tool to a hanger;
using the running tool to move the hanger in an axial direction down into a wellhead;
temporarily gripping the hanger in the wellhead via a hanger suspension system comprising one or more slips coupled to one or more pistons, wherein temporarily gripping comprises actuating the one or more pistons to drive the one or more slips against the hanger; and
rotating a second sleeve relative to a first sleeve of the running tool to rotate an adjustable landing ring to drive a load ring in a radial direction to lock the hanger in place in the wellhead, wherein the one or more slips of the hanger suspension system are separate from the load ring.
