1. A method for disengaging a motor of an electromechanical lock, comprising:
rotating an engagement mechanism;
rotating a release cam positioned upon a tail insert, the release cam including one or more projections in abutment with an engagement cog, and the engagement mechanism coupled to the release cam;
rotating the engagement cog, the release cam sheathed within the engagement cog; and retracting engagement teeth of the engagement cog from engagement pockets of a worm gear hub via rotation of the one or more projections on the release cam;
wherein the engagement teeth of the engagement cog slide past the engagement pockets of the worm gear hub such that the engagement cog is disconnected from the worm gear hub thereby disengaging the motor;
wherein the engagement teeth of the engagement cog disconnect from the engagement pockets of the worm gear hub;
wherein the worm gear hub remains stationary and is disengaged from the engagement cog;
and
wherein the worm gear hub is part of a gear train of the motor.
