1. An electrochemical ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE) system configured to reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide and mitigate ocean acidification by generating and supplying an ocean alkalinity product to an ocean such that the ocean alkalinity product disperses into the ocean's seawater, the OAE system comprising:
an electrodialysis apparatus configured to electrochemically process a feedstock solution to generate a processed salt solution, an acid solution and an initial base solution, wherein the initial base solution includes dissolved sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and has a first pH value;
an alkalinity product generation unit configured to react some of the dissolved sodium hydroxide in the initial base solution with carbon dioxide (CO2) such that the CO2 becomes stored in the reacted base solution, whereby the reaction reduces a pH level of the reacted base solution from the first pH value of the initial base solution to a second pH value that is lower than the first pH value, wherein the alkalinity product generation unit includes a mixing device configured to generate said ocean alkalinity product by mixing the reacted base solution with one or more of (i) the ocean's seawater, (ii) the processed salt solution, and (iii) brine such that the pH level is reduced from the second pH value to a third pH value; and
a control circuit configured to control operations performed by the base-generating device and the mixing device such that the ocean alkalinity product has the third pH value that is lower than the second pH value and higher than the pH level of the ocean's seawater when the ocean alkalinity product is supplied to the ocean.
