1. A method comprising:
scanning a geometry of a joint;
estimating, based on the scanning, a number of runs to weld the joint using a submerged arc welding (SAW) operation;
conducting and monitoring the SAW operation;
determining, based on the monitoring, the geometry of the joint, and the number of runs to weld the joint, a discrepancy between a desired weld parameter and an actual weld parameter of a weld resulting from the SAW operation; and
in response to determining the discrepancy, and during the SAW operation, adaptively controlling a power supply, which provides power for the SAW operation, to modify at least one of balance or offset of an alternating current (AC) welding power signal supplied for the SAW operation to compensate for the discrepancy while maintaining a predetermined heat input for the weld.
