1. A device for adjusting and/or replacing a chest tube after initial insertion into a body of a patient, comprising:
an access pathway port configured to maintain a barrier between an internal portion of the body and an external environment when in a closed position; and
an attachment device configured to at least partially contain a chest tube, the attachment device being connectable to the access pathway port and configured to allow the access pathway port to open,
wherein the access pathway port and the attachment device cooperate to only allow the access pathway port to open at the time that the attachment device is attached to the access pathway port and automatically prohibit disconnection of the attachment device from the access pathway port when the access pathway port is open.
