1. A cap of a medical device configured to disinfect a skin surface, the cap comprising:
a power source that provides electric power;
a light emitting source that uses electric power received from the power source to disinfect the skin surface, the light emitting source being disposed on an external surface of the cap;
a switch that is configured to be operated by user action; and
an electromagnetic radiation source disposed inside the cap to emit UV light, wherein
upon activation of the switch, the electric power from the power source is received by the light emitting source to emit visible light to disinfect the skin surface, the electric power from the power source is received by the electromagnetic radiation source to emit UV light to disinfect the medical device or a portion thereof; and
the medical device includes one of a medication delivery pen and a syringe.
