1. A method for reducing an amount of hair loss due to alopecia induced by a chemotherapeutic agent, the method comprising the step of:
providing a composition to a subject prior to the subject receiving a dose of the chemotherapeutic agent by applying the composition subcutaneously, percutaneously, or topically at or a near a treatment area on the subject;
wherein the subject does not have alopecia at the time of the providing step;
wherein the composition comprises benzoyl peroxide in an amount sufficient to provide a 0.1% to 15% w/w peroxide concentration based on a hydrogen peroxide equivalent peroxide value; and
wherein the benzoyl peroxide is the only active ingredient in the composition.
