1. A method of placing a stent graft between a femoral artery and a femoral vein, comprising
using a penetration catheter which carries a penetration tool adapted to penetrate and advance a guidewire between a peripheral artery and a peripheral vein to form a proximal penetration from the peripheral artery into the peripheral vein;
advancing the guidewire through the penetration with the penetration catheter;
using a guidewire capture and stabilization catheter to capture the guidewire advanced by the penetration catheter from the peripheral artery to the peripheral vein; and
pulling the guidewire through the penetration;
wherein the guidewire capture and stabilization catheter comprises a portion configured to expand and contract to capture the guidewire.
