1. A method of treating a subject with a stimulation system including an implantable stimulation device and an external device, the method comprising:
identifying a skin location over a subcutaneous implantation site of the implantable stimulation device;
adhering a positioning device over the identified skin location, wherein the positioning device comprises a clip with an adhesive portion, wherein the clip comprises:
(a) a first portion;
(b) a second portion opposite the first portion; and
(c) a cavity defined by the first portion and the second portion, the cavity shaped to receive at least a portion of the external device,
wherein the adhesive portion is coupled to the second portion of the clip and adapted to adhere the clip to skin of the subject; and
removably coupling the external device to the adhered positioning device,
wherein, when the external device is coupled to the adhered positioning device, a majority of a perimeter of the external device is exposed, and the positioning device aligns an antenna of the external device to the implantable stimulation device to optimize transfer of one or more of power or signal from the external device to the implantable stimulation device.
