1. A system for ultrasound localization, the system comprising:
a marker comprising a body formed from a material that allows the body to be selectively positionable between at least a condensed configuration and an expanded configuration, wherein the marker is configured to be implanted in an interior of a patient, and wherein the marker has identifying marker information including marker type or shape and size of the marker;
an ultrasound probe comprising an ultrasonic transducer, the ultrasonic transducer configured to emit ultrasonic sound waves and detect reflected ultrasonic sound waves;
a display;
at least one processor operatively connected to the ultrasound probe; and
memory, operatively connected to the at least one processor, storing instructions that when executed by the at least one processor perform a set of operations comprising:
generating first image data from first reflected ultrasonic sound waves reflected from the marker in the expanded configuration when implanted proximate a lesion within the interior of the patent and the ultrasound probe is at a first position;
analyzing the generated first image data to identify the marker in the expanded configuration within the interior of the patient, wherein the analysis is at least partially based on the identifying marker information of the marker;
displaying, on the display, a first ultrasound image including the marker, based on the first reflected ultrasonic sound waves;
based at least in part on the identifying marker information of the marker, determining from the first ultrasound image a lateral distance between the marker and an object appearing on the first ultrasound image and displaying the lateral distance in a user interface element on the display;
generating second image data from second reflected ultrasonic sound waves reflected when the ultrasound probe is at a second position different than the first position;
analyzing the generated second image data and determining that the marker is not present within the generated second image data;
generating a navigation indicator, wherein the navigation indicator is based at least partially on the first position of the ultrasound probe such that the navigation indicator provides directional return guidance to find the marker when the ultrasound probe is at the second position; and
displaying the navigation indicator on the display concurrently with a second ultrasound image generated from the second image data.
