1. A method comprising:
monitoring an information handling system, by a processor, to detect whether a media application is playing media content;
in response to detecting that the media application is playing the media content, collecting data from a plurality of sensors, wherein the sensors include a far-field sensor and a near-field sensor, wherein the near-field sensor provides proximity sensing at a first range around the information handling system, and wherein the far-field sensor provides proximity sensing at a second range around the information handling system;
determining user presence status within the second range relative to the information handling system based on the data from the far-field sensor, wherein the data includes data from a camera of the far-field sensor; and
in response to a verification of the user presence status within the first range associated with the near-field sensor, applying a policy based on the user presence status and the media content by adjusting a power mode setting of the information handling system, wherein a power savings mode is applied when the user presence status is not detected, and wherein a normal power mode is restored when the user presence status is detected.
