1. An image decoding method performed by an image decoding apparatus comprising a memory and at least one processor, the image decoding method comprising:
(a) obtaining (S3010), by the processor, a current block by splitting an image;
(b) determining (S3020), by the processor, a prediction mode of the current block;
(c) generating (S3030), by the processor, an intra prediction block of the current block, based on the prediction mode of the current block being an intra prediction mode;
(d) generating (S3040), by the processor, a residual block of the current block; and
(e) reconstructing (S3050), by the processor, the current block based on the prediction block and the residual block of the current block,
characterized in that the intra prediction block and the residual block are generated based on a size of a transform block of the current block,
the size of the transform block is determined based on a color component of the current block,
a maximum size of the transform block is separately determined for each of a width and a height of the transform block,
based on the color component of the current block being a chroma component, the maximum size of the transform block is determined based on a color format of the current block, and
a top-left position of the transform block is determined based on a maximum width and a maximum height of the transform block.
