1. A computer-implemented method comprising:
determining a user availability status of a user at a computing device during a portion of a virtual meeting based at least in part on a user availability indicator of the user, the computing device connected via a network to a meeting service provider comprising a server providing the virtual meeting, wherein the user availability status is based at least in part on a detected scheduling conflict of the virtual meeting overlapping with a different meeting;
recording the portion of the virtual meeting based at least in part on determining that the user availability status indicates that the user is currently unavailable, wherein the portion of the virtual meeting is received at the computing device from the meeting service provider as a single stream without requiring demultiplexing by at least one of the computing device or an application that enables the computing device to access the virtual meeting; and
ending the recording of the portion of the virtual meeting based at least in part on determining that the user availability status indicates that the user is currently available.
