1. A computer-implemented method of adapting one or more query medical images for a medical image database, the method comprising operating a processor to:
identify, from the medical image database, one or more supplementary medical images based on the one or more query medical images; and
with respect to each query medical image of the one or more query medical images, evaluate each supplementary medical image of the one or more supplementary medical images to:
identify one or more portions of image data of the query medical image that is analogous to image data of each respective supplementary medical image, the one or more portions of the image data comprising a set of pixels within the query medical image identified as analogous to at least a portion of the image data of the respective supplementary medical image;
adapt a remaining portion of the image data of the query medical image to a lower data format requiring less storage requirement than when in an original data format of the query medical image, the remaining portion comprising a set of pixels within the query medical image that is not analogous to the image data of the respective supplementary medical image;
generate a composite query medical image composed of the adapted remaining portion of the image data stored at the lower data format, wherein the composite query medical image shows an overall image similar to the query medical image, comprising:
the one or more portions of image data of the query medical image that is analogous to the image data of each respective supplementary medical image in the original data format of the query medical image; and
the adapted remaining portion of the image data of the query medical image in the lower data format; and
store the composite query medical image in the medical image database such that the adapted remaining portion of the image data requires less storage than when provided within the query medical image.
