1. An interpolated flat-panel display, comprising:
a display substrate;
an array of clusters disposed on the display substrate, each of the clusters comprising an exclusive group of display pixels and a cluster controller for exclusively controlling the display pixels,
wherein the cluster controller is operable to:
(i) receive input data specifying a desired output from one or more but fewer than all of the display pixels in the group of display pixels,
(ii) calculate additional interpolated data at least in part from the input data to specify a desired luminance value for one or more of the display pixels in the group for which input data is not received and provide an upscaled image with the interpolated data, and
(iii) drive at least one of the one or more of the display pixels in the group of display pixels for which input data is not received to emit light in response to the interpolated data,
wherein one or more of the display pixels comprise only one green sub-pixel or only one white sub-pixel,
wherein the input data correspond to an image pixel in an input image and wherein the cluster controller is operable to receive a parameter value describing attributes of a local portion of the input image, including the image pixel, and the interpolated data is calculated at least in part from the parameter value,
wherein the image attributes comprise texture or the parameter value specifies one or more of frequency, phase, and edge direction.
