1. An automated teller machine (ATM), comprising:
one or more processors; and
a non-transitory memory coupled to the one or more processors, the non-transitory memory including a set of instructions of computer-executable program code, which when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
enter the ATM into a default ATM operating mode that enables actions to be visually represented with words;
authenticate a mobile device of a user;
detect a current geographic location of the authenticated mobile device;
verify, based on the detected current geographic location, the authenticated mobile device is at a same physical location as the ATM;
establish, upon user engagement of a user-engageable icon, an electronical link between the authenticated mobile device and the ATM to thereby facilitate an ATM session by proxy via the authenticated mobile device;
generate a graphical user interface (GUI) for visual display on the mobile device, the GUI including a dashboard having a user-engageable default ATM operating mode icon and a user-engageable simple ATM operating mode icon that when selectively engaged by the user enables actions to be represented on the GUI with graphical images instead of words and verbal descriptions, the graphical images including graphical images of currency/banknotes; and
switch, responsive to receipt of a user command by user engagement of the simple ATM operating mode icon during the active ATM session, from the default ATM operating mode to the basic ATM operating mode.
