1. A computer-implemented method for a remote deposit using a client device, comprising:
activating, based on a remote deposit application receiving a user request to initiate a remote deposit, a camera on the client device, wherein the activated camera provides access to a field of view of the camera;
generating, by a Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) sensor resident on the client device, data related to a first range of distances of the camera from a first side of a financial instrument viewable within the field of view of the camera;
forming, while in the first range of distances and from a live video stream generated by the camera, a first set of image objects of at least a portion of the first side of the financial instrument;
detecting, by the LIDAR sensor, a flip action of the financial instrument to a second side, wherein the flip action is detectable when the LIDAR sensor detects data related to a distance of the camera to the financial instrument that is not within the first range of distances;
generating, by the LIDAR sensor, data related to a second range of distances of the camera from the second side of the financial instrument viewable within the field of view of the camera; and
forming, while in the second range of distances and from the live video stream of the camera, a second set of image objects of at least a portion of the second side of the financial instrument.
