1. A method, the method comprising:
processing a first source document, via a device and an application, to produce an electronic publication (ePub) comprising a first plurality of individual page images;
replacing the first source document with the ePub according to a request from the device over a remote communication link; and
delivering one or more of the first plurality of individual page images, on demand, to an end-user display device in a page by page manner, wherein:
the application is not installed on the device,
a content management system stores the first source document and the ePub,
the remote communication link communicatively couples the device with the content management system,
the ePub is linked to an identifier of the first source document, and
the ePub is linked to a status.
