1. An optical fiber connector comprising:
a multifiber ferrule;
an inner housing disposed around at least a portion of the multifiber ferrule, the inner housing having a front end portion and a rear end portion spaced apart along an axis, the inner housing having a first side and a second side;
an outer housing disposed around at least a portion of the inner housing;
a key disposed on the first side of the inner housing, the key being configured to slidably move along the inner housing in a range of motion that includes a forward active position and a rear inactive position while the outer housing remains disposed on the inner housing for changing the polarity of the optical fiber connector;
the inner housing comprising a front ridge configured to engage the key in the forward active position to inhibit the key from sliding rearward along the inner housing.
