1. A method for distinguishing an interfering gas in a gas flow, the method comprising:
causing at least three wavelengths of light to be emitted from a light source;
detecting a reflected portion of each of the at least three wavelengths of light, wherein the reflected portion of each of the at least three wavelengths of light is reflected from a treated tape that is in contact with the gas flow;
distinguishing the interfering gas in the gas flow using a 2-dimensional color space model; and
identifying the interfering gas as being a first known interfering gas of a plurality of known interfering gases based on a first distance from a location of the interfering gas within the 2-dimensional color space model being less than a distance from a location of the interfering gas within the 2-dimensional color space model to a known location of each of the other interfering gases in the plurality of known interfering gases within the 2-dimensional color space model.
