1. A stand for holding electronic devices, the stand comprising:
a first side wall having a top and a bottom;
a second side wall having a top and bottom;
a hinged base having a first leaf and a second leaf pivotally coupled to the first leaf, the first leaf coupled to the first side wall and the second leaf coupled to the second side wall to define a receiving area between the first and second side walls; and
a support pad disposed on a top surface of the first leaf and a support pad disposed on a top surface of the second leaf, each support pad comprising at least one ridge that extends upward into the receiving area to assist holding and supporting the electronic device,
wherein the stand is biased in an open position where the tops of the first and second walls are a first distance from one another, and movable to a closed position where the tops of the first and second walls are a second distance less than the first distance from one another.
